Position: COTS Hardware Engineer

Description: Design, integrate and test a custom image processing system using Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components, to be used in a high-performance government surveillance system. Specify, acquire, document, integrate and test rack-mount PC servers, IP routers, video format converters, and wireless equipment into mil-type transit cases, and develop all schematics and documentation. Work effectively with individuals of various technical skill levels. Have exceptional communication skills, be a self starter, and able to work independently with minimum supervision. Provide input to documentation processes and thoroughly document changes and/or new features to software in a consistent, concise manner. Generate system integration test plan and lead/oversee system testing.

Skills Required: B.S. degree in EE or CE; Associate Technician Degree plus relevant work experience may substitute for degree. 8+ years experience. Strong Hardware design skills. Experience identifying and integrating COTS equipment. Experience using schematic capture systems. Experience generating system diagrams. Experience generating and executing system test plans. Experience integrating TCP/IP Routers and other Networking equipment. Experience with video cameras, monitors, and video processing equipment. Experience with video interfaces, particularly SMPTE 292, HD/SDI, Camera Link, FireWire, and NTSC. Experience selecting and integrating PC servers and components. Experience with shock-mount travel cases, including rack-mount.
